Eric's moving away.
For those who don't know, he moved here from st. louis when we were in middle school, and sat behind me in first period hon. Algebra I. And we became almost inseperable friends; starting, absurdly enough, with an identical pair of watches we wore. Both righties, we wore them on our right wrists, and the guide bands were gone, so if we flicked our wrists just so, we could snap it. Yeah, that was cool in middle school, give it a rest.
We hung together all the time, learned about anime beyond Dragon Ball... played together in the orchestra, both in concert and on our many trips, discovered DDR together (a debt I'll never be able to repay), gamed together (though damn he could beat me good sometimes), and all manner of things. He stuck by me through all sorts of crap, I got mad at him sometimes, and I didn't really know why... we had our share of spats, onesided a lot, 'cause I was angrier than I shoulda been, but we never ceased to be the best of friends, between orchestra (our guaranteed good times), DND, and all things asian. He was always there with a joke or a little sonething to take my mind off the Even when the all-of-highschool duel over a mutual friend of ours came to pass between him and any number of others. Man... that was a dramafest to end them all. That ended though, and the call to college loomed.
Then we graduated and had out last shared summer before we went off to school. I was too chicken to say it. I'd crushed for him big time. Might have even fallen in love. And I didn't know it, or how to say it.
*sigh*
I just thought I'd say it here, Eric, even if I didn't have the time, the courage, or the heart to before. Moved on though I have, anywhere life takes us, there's still a small part of my heart that'll always be yours. As a most devoted friend, a fellow musician, gamer, sci-fi lover, and everything else that we've shared together. I'll treasure every memory, fair or foul.
Different as we might be, we still forged something between us, and I'm gladder than words can say that we did. I hope to see you soon, and all the best of luck, both still at cornell, and now in your new home.
Love you, 'rico.

| A strange question.
Does the life I've lived thus far, show its effects on my body? Does my body look as broken and fragile as it probably should be, after having gone through faaaaar too much?
I shouldn't even list these... ^.^()
-Gunshot wound (a scrape, it just missed, don't ask) to the right side. No scar. -Knife wound to upper right leg, butterfly knife up to the grip. Just missed the artery. No scar. -Broken right hand, three times, kept rebreaking it. Too many brawls, and the Break's 5th mix. Oops. -Fractured/broken back/lower vertebrae, from repeated injuries. Hit with a backhoe boom. Hit with a hard swung shovel. Folded over backwards in a vaulting accident. Backbreaker. Bat. The list goes on. -Hairline fractured left leg. Skiing accident. Never let it heal normally, ran a season of track starting less than a month later. -Dislocated right shoulder. Went flying from a 3rd floor balcony. Granted, the other guy came with me, and didn't fare so well, but still. -Broken right foot. Many times. Dropped jackhammer, dump druck rollover, vaulting accidents, breaking accidents -Broken/sprained ankles. Too many to count. Vaulting, fighting, accidents, falls, etc. Nowadays, I'll roll it, and can walk it off in minutes. I've done it so many times the muscles and tendons are used to it. -Knife slash across the ribs, not deep. I hate chinatown punks. Healed fine. No scar. -Torn up left forearm, road rash from an accident. Only scar is on my elbow, and that's minimal. -Cracked/Floating ribs. Several. Fights, beatings. Ridiculously strong martial artists. Went about as normal. They don't interfere with much, actually. It just makes catching your breath tougher. -Damaged neck. Chiropractors suck. -Muscle warps in my arms, chest, and upper back. From past employment issues. LW knows what I'm talking about, but near nobody else will. -Kneecap rotated to the side. Had to put it back myself. I nearly passed out cold; that sudden pain is beyond expression. -Compressed bones in my right foot. Vaulting accident. Never did let that heal.
Let's see...those are the major ones that I can remember, most of them multiple times and various methods... any number of smaller ones... cuts, concussions, bloody noses, scrapes and bruises. Everyone gets those, just not so many as I tend to. I'm always walking around with some minor injury or other... usually in the legs. And more often than not beating the hell out of myself with martial arts or DDR or some other masochistic passtime at the same time. I feel silly, as I think about it... One of these days my whole body is just going to say "go screw", and give up on me. But for now, it obeys. It's healed extremely well considering the poor care I tend to give it, and the apalling lack of medical care I've received. I have so few scars it's amusing, and they're all from the trivial stuff.
So what do you all think? Does it show? | | |
